Ingredients
For the Meatballs
- 750g beef mince
- 1 egg
- 75g breadcrumbs
- 50g grated Parmesan
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- Β½ tsp black pepper
For the Dragonfire Sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 x 400g tins chopped tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato purΓ©e
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp basil
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
To Serve
- Spaghetti
- Crusty bread
- Parmesan cheese
Method
Step 1 β Forge the Meatballs
Combine all meatball ingredients in a large bowl.
Mix until just combined.
Form into 12 large meatballs.
Step 2 β Brown the Beef
Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
Brown the meatballs on all sides.
Remove and set aside.
Step 3 β Create the Sauce
Add the olive oil and onion to the pan.
Cook for 5 minutes until softened.
Add the garlic.
Cook for 1 minute.
Step 4 β Summon the Dragonfire
Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato purΓ©e, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper.
Bring to a gentle simmer.
Step 5 β Return the Warriors
Place the meatballs back into the sauce.
Cover and simmer gently for 25β30 minutes.
The meatballs should be cooked through and tender.
Step 6 β Serve
Serve over spaghetti or alongside crusty bread.
Finish with grated Parmesan.
