Method

Step 1 – Begin the Harvest

Step 2 – Awaken the Woodland

Add the mushrooms and cook for 5–6 minutes until lightly golden.

Add the garlic and thyme.

Cook for another minute.

Step 3 – Toast the Rice

Add the risotto rice.

Stir continuously for 1–2 minutes until lightly coated.

Step 4 – Summon the Broth

Add one ladle of warm stock.

Stir until absorbed.

Continue adding stock one ladle at a time, stirring regularly.

Repeat until the rice is tender and creamy.

This should take around 25 minutes.

Step 5 – Finish the Feast

Remove from the heat.

Stir through the parmesan, butter, salt, and pepper.

Allow to rest for 2 minutes.

Step 6 – Serve

Divide between warm bowls.

Top with parsley, parmesan, or toasted pine nuts if desired.

πŸ‰ Dragon’s Tip

Keep the stock warm throughout cooking. Cold stock slows the cooking process and affects the creamy texture.

πŸ“œ Lore of the Hoard

The Green Dragons believe patience is one of nature’s greatest lessons. Elderbark Risotto reflects that philosophy, requiring careful attention and steady hands to achieve perfection. During the Moonleaf Festival, cooks gather around great cauldrons preparing risotto while musicians play beneath the trees. It is said that the first bowl served each year is offered to the forest itself in gratitude for another season of abundance. πŸŒΏπŸ‰
