Ingredients

For the Pork

  • 600g pork loin steaks, diced into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Β½ tsp garlic powder
  • Β½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Β½ tsp black pepper

Flameforged Glaze

  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Β½ tsp chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

To Serve

  • Sliced spring onions
  • Sesame seeds (optional)
  • Rice, chips, or flatbreads

Method

Step 1 – Prepare the Pork

Preheat your oven to 200Β°C (180Β°C fan).

Place the diced pork into a bowl.

Add the olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

Mix until evenly coated.

Step 2 – Begin the Forge

Spread the pork pieces onto a baking tray.

Bake for 15 minutes until beginning to brown.

Step 3 – Craft the Glaze

While the pork cooks, place the honey, sweet chilli sauce, hot sauce, soy sauce, garlic, chilli flakes, and smoked paprika into a saucepan.

Heat gently for 2–3 minutes until combined.

Do not allow the glaze to boil vigorously.

Step 4 – Temper the Steel

Remove the pork from the oven.

Transfer to a large bowl and pour over the Flameforged Glaze.

Toss thoroughly until every piece is coated.

Step 5 – Final Forging

Return the pork to the baking tray.

Bake for a further 8–10 minutes until sticky, caramelised, and slightly charred around the edges.

Step 6 – Serve the Feast

Transfer to a serving platter.

Scatter over spring onions and sesame seeds.

Serve immediately.

πŸ‰ Dragon’s Tip

For the best caramelisation, spread the pork in a single layer during the final bake. Overcrowding prevents the glaze from developing that signature forge-fired finish.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Adventurer’s Notes

πŸ”₯ Dragon Slayer Challenge

Add a teaspoon of ghost pepper sauce to the glaze for a true trial of courage.

🍯 Sweet Hoard

Double the honey and reduce the hot sauce for a sweeter tavern-style version.

βš”οΈ Mercenary’s Feast

Serve over loaded fries and top with melted cheese.

πŸ•οΈ Campfire Method

Thread onto skewers and cook over hot coals, brushing with glaze throughout cooking.

πŸ’° Quartermaster’s Budget Option

Use pork shoulder instead of loin for a cheaper alternative.

πŸ“œ Lore of the Hoard

The Crimson Forge is said to be the hottest smithy in Emberpeak, its furnaces fuelled by ancient dragonfire trapped beneath the mountain. Workers there developed an appetite for rich, sticky foods that could be eaten quickly between shifts. Flameforged Pork Bites became the forge’s signature meal, and apprentices still compete to see who can endure the hottest version without reaching for water. Those who succeed earn the honorary title of “Forgeheart” among their peers. πŸ”₯πŸ‰
